GEM Fellowship Program
The National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science, Inc. (GEM), a nonprofit organization, was formed to help assist underrepresented groups (African Americans, American Indians, and Hispanic Americans) at the masters and doctoral levels in engineering and the physical sciences.
Carnegie Mellon Architecture is pleased to support the GEM Fellowship by offering GEM recipients additional funding to help to defray the overall cost of our M.S. and PhD graduate programs. If you are interested in shaping the future of the built environment, consider applying to GEM and the School of Architecture Graduate Program.
GEM Candidate Admission Process
Interested candidates must first apply for the GEM Fellowship by the application deadline of November 10th at 11:59pm ET. GEM candidates will then complete the School of Architecture Graduate Program application by February 1. The application fees for the Carnegie Mellon School of Architecture graduate programs will be waived for GEM candidates.
Prospective School of Architecture graduate students applying for the GEM Fellowship Program are advised to contact Erica Cochran Hameen, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) for the School of Architecture, to learn more about our graduate programs and navigate the GEM application process.
GEM candidates applying for admission to our master’s or PhD programs are advised to contact Alexis McCune Secosky, Director of Recruitment & Enrollment for the School of Architecture, for Graduate Program admission questions and to complete their application fee waiver.
