The School of Architecture is pleased to announce a special Real Estate Finance Investment & Analysis seminar taking place 23-24 February 2019. In this seminar, students will learn to analyze Real Estate Investment opportunities in the context of specific risk and return criteria. The course will be led by special guest instructor Alexander Biagioli, Senior Executive Vice President of A10 Capital. Biagioli brings over 20 years of commercial real estate experience and has overseen over $5.5 billion of CRE loans. He holds a B.Arch degree from the CMU School of Architecture and a MBA from NYU Stern School of Business.

48-741 REAL ESTATE FINANCE: INVESTMENT AND ANALYSIS WORKSHOP
Real Estate Investment is a broad field requiring both operational and financial expertise. It is a deeply local business that requires detailed knowledge of the physical property, market dynamics, and investment participants (debt & equity providers).
Real Estate is an Alternative Investment Product that is secured by a physical asset. As such, the industry has its own institutional features and investment structures. This workshop aims to provide a broad overview of the real estate field directly applied to investment analysis. Topics will include:
Financial Analysis of Real Estate Investments
Real Estate Appraisal and Valuation
Approaches to Real Estate Investment
Financial Structuring Debt & Equity Analysis
Investment Alternative Analysis including IRR, NPV, and ATCF Comparison
Students will learn to analyze Real Estate Investment opportunities in the context of specific risk and return criteria. After taking this workshop, students will learn what kind of investment risk they feel comfortable taking:
Stabilized Real Estate Investor (stable cash flow requiring management)
Value Add Real Estate Investor (implement a CAPEX plan to achieve stable cash flows)
Real Estate Development (implement a Construction plan to generate cash flows)
Real Estate Design & Development: 48-725 or equivalent Introduction to Real Estate course
Students will be required to have intermediate level facility with Microsoft Excel and Word
