CMU to host a faculty development seminar, Social Networks with Brandy Aven, Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior and Theory. This seminar will take place Nov 14, from 12:00-1:00pm in the Pake Room, CUC. This is an interactive discussion designed to introduce you to benefits of your social network:
“Social networks are essential for gaining information, social support, and are also fronts for innovation. Yet, scholars neglect to understand their social networks and do not foster them in such a way that will benefit themselves and others. In fact, the idea of networking makes us feel dirty (Casciaro, Gino, & Kouchaki, 2014). This discussion will introduce you to the range of benefits that your social network can provide, explain how networks can enhance your opportunities, productivity, and innovativeness. We will end with ideas on how to network smarter not smarmier.”
Faculty interested in attending are asked to please RSVP here. A light lunch will be provided.
