UDBS Exhibit CONSTRUCTING INCLUSIVITY - CFA Great Hall

  • CFA Great Hall CMU

The 2016/2017 Urban Design Build Studio (UDBS) has focused on the relationship between culture and inclusivity through Public Interest Design (PID). The spring 2017 Urban Design Build Studio (UDBS), CONSTRUCTING INCLUSIVITY, has focused specifically on fundamental human needs related to food access. Work executed during the span of the semester has resulted in the completion of two projects 1) the FIRST COURSE Café, and 2) the OV_COURSE Community Oven prototypes. In the execution of each project, the UDBS has explored the role that pre-fabrication, job skills training, and manufacturing can be utilized to enhance low-barrier entrepreneurship opportunities and increase access to food in under-represented communities throughout Pittsburgh. The development of work is the product of interdisciplinary collaboration through the IDeATe Reality Computing program and community partnerships fostered by PROJECT RE_, The Trade Institute of Pittsburgh (TIP), Construction Junction, and Autodesk.

Please join us for the CONSTRUCTING INCLUSIVITY Review on Thursday, 11 May from 11:00am-3:00pm in the CFA Great Hall and Studio for Creative Inquiry (CFA 111). During the review the UDBS and IDeATe Reality Computing will provide live demonstrations of Virtual Reality (VR) experiences developed as tools and products of the design process. Everyone is welcome and food will be provided. The accompanying exhibit will be on display in the CFA Great Hall May 8-11.
