Design in the 21st century is complex, collaborative and interdisciplinary: the lone ranger scribbling on a napkin stands powerless in the face of exploding cities, humans’ effect on the climate, and the seamless integration of technology into the built environment.

Our students explore design in a uniquely interdisciplinary setting, working alongside avant garde artists, pioneering scientists, and the world’s best programmers. CMU SoA not only prepares students for excellence in the architecture profession, we equip them to innovate in the multidimensional problem space that is design.

Our diverse faculty prepares students to execute what the profession already knows and invent the design solutions the world will need a decade from now.
