Anne Chen is an architect of projects and plans. She is the founder of BLD:ac, a capital projects consultancy that helps organizations and businesses develop and implement the vision around their real estate assets and needs to maximize impact. After over 25 years designing award winning buildings and spaces as a Principal with EDGE studio and GBBN Architects, Anne now assists owners in defining strategies to optimize physical space to elevate their success.

Anne is interested in the impact of architecture and the built environment as a language with which all humans interact, yet few conscientiously seek competency in understanding. Our built environment shapes and reinforces the systems and the hierarchies that we operate within. Exploring and understanding how both the planning and the aesthetics of our surroundings shape our worldview is essential to advancing more equitable and inclusive design.

Anne received her Master’s in Architecture from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Princeton University. She holds a certificate in Real Estate Investing and Development from Jones School of Business at Rice University. She serves on the Advisory Boards of the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Stuckeman School at Pennsylvania State University. Anne also reviews proposed urban developments as a member of the Contextual Design Advisory Panel for the City of Pittsburgh.
